On July 16, the European Parliament appointed the ex-Minister of Defense of Germany, Ursula von der Leyen, to the post of European Commission President.

In the fall, she will replace Jean-Claude Juncker, whose authority will end in October, and will become the first woman to be European Commissioner. Recall that Jean-Claude Juncker headed this structure from November 1, 2014.
