By the decision of the Krasnodar City Council, thirteen streets in the new residential area of ​​Prikubansky District were named in honor of the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

One of the streets in Krasnodar is named after the participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union Hrant Avagyan.

Hrant Avagyan was born in 1924 in Baku to a working class family from Shushi. On April 16, 1945, Lieutenant Avagyan got close to the house where the Nazis were, and threw three grenades out the window. After that, an exchange of fire between the lieutenant and the fascists took place around the house. During the battles, Lieutenant Avagyan together with his comrades killed 56 Nazis and captured 14 more, capturing two armored personnel carriers. For his heroism, Hrant Avagyan was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. After the Victory Avagyan served in the ranks of the USSR Armed Forces and in 1985 was discharged as a colonel. Hrant Avagyan died on February 28, 2017.
