Armenian Press Day is celebrated on October 16 in Armenia.

On October 16, 1794, the first Armenian magazine "Azdarar" was published in Madras, India, and the Armenian press was again re-established on October 14, the same year in Madras.

"Azdarar" magazine was founded by Harutyun Shmavonian, from Shiraz. It operated until March 1796. During that time, he published 18 items, 965 pages.

By the decision of the Government of Armenia, from April 22 to October 16, 2004 has become "The Day of Press Workers", which was later renamed "Armenian Press Day".
